Political decision

Posted by [email protected] on July 23, 2016 at 8:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Well, I have been diligently following the political debates that have been going on now for many months.  I have listened to everyone's views and agreements and disagreements and I have decided one simple truth:

Are you happy with the direction the US is going?  with economy, safety, and our debt?  It is either yes or no

If yes:  vote Hillary as she has stated she will keep the direction we are currently going

If no:  vote Trump as he intends on a change of direction

Budgeting Time

Well, todays blog is about budgeting your time!  Such an important topic when you are a small business owner and have a family.  What I am learning after 12 years in business is this:  Set yourself a schedule and no matter whether you are finished or not...keep the schedule!  That way you do not get burnt out and you become much more proficient!  Sounds crazy, but it is so true!

Government and its people

I know that this may sound just a bit crazy, but here goes!  Has anyone else wondered.......  the government split off into 2 divisions, Republican and Democrat.  It just seems as though the people had total control of the situation before the split...the majority ruled....simple...easy.  Maybe, just maybe, the split arose to make the people harder to get together on an issue.  I mean, if you split 100 people into 2 divisions and then try to get 85 to agree, pretty difficult!  If there is not a split and you ask 100 people a question....you may easily get 85 to agree, correct?  It seems to me that Republican Ted Cruz is virtually siding with Hillary Clinton by attacking Trump.  It also seems that quite a few Republican senate and house members are leaning that way as well.  Maybe there really isn't 2 divisions, but one....and the one doesn't want Trump to such a degree that the two are joining forces to prevent it....does anyone else see this?  Just curious?

The written word!

Can someone please tell me when it became okay to use your words for harmful comments and non positive promotion of incident instead of positive influence? I really just started using Facebook back in March of this year and the comments I see the younger generation using with no regard to consequence is so disturbing, I am heartbroken! Where are the parents in this equation? If you have a young teen using Facebook or the computer in general, please take an affirmative action and check out what they are posting and make sure that the words that they are supplying would make you proud and not ashamed as this comes back to you and lets the world know that you dropped the ball. I know that the constant parental support takes time and is mentally exhausting, believe me I know! My youngest son is totally exhausting most of the time, but I love him and wish for him to be the best him he can be and not look back at what he has said and done and be ashamed of himself in Gods eyes! Lets stand together as parents and grandparents and make a stand on this as it is what is right, morally!

Running a business

Well, I know it has been a while since I last submitted a post, but I contracted a serious stomach bug on one of my deliveries a few weeks back that has really taken me for a loop!  I finally overcame it and now I am backlogged on orderes trying to get caught up.  If you run a small business where there are less than 5 employees you will definitely understand the dilema!

After careful analyzation of my life, eating habits, weight and health, I have decided to purchase a fitbit to help me with weight loss and getting healthy!  This little watch has been a miracle!  Think you are eating healthy and making good decisions about your life, think again!  If you eat out at all you better get one of these and correct those patterns now as the older you get the harder it gets!  I will definitely keep everyone posted on my progress.  If you own a fitbit, like and follow me on any of the social medias and we can challenge each other with the number of steps we take daily and with other challenges!  Challenge is on!

Getting Organized

Wow!  During the last 6 months our company has been thru a whirlwind!  I guess as a company grows things just have to change and I am not so great at the mass changes.  I have been trying to run our company as a small company and it just isn't that small any more.  I wanted to thank everyone for hanging in there as I faced the realization that change is good and growth can be fantastic!  I am ready for whatever life throws my way now and looking forward to a fantastic year and Christmas season!

Miscommunications

Don't you just love it when you share information that seems to be fairly simple in nature and the next thing you know 2 weeks have passed and the info comes back around in an entirely different context in which it started?  It reminds me of when I was a child at school and the teachers did that experiment about gossip.  Everyone sat in a circle and the first person whispered something into the person next to thems ear.  It was shared from one kid to the next times 20 something times.  By the time it reached the last person, the message was something that had nothing to do with the original message.  That is how life is, I think.  No one can keep the information straight.  I would love to know your thoughts on this.

Everyday Stresses

Posted by [email protected] on April 16, 2015 at 11:35 AM Comments comments (5)

Well, I am starting a blog about the trials of having a pottery business in the US in todays times!  There is a significant amount of stress involved in creating a unique hand  crafted product that can be mass produced and still be hand painted and hand rolled.  There is also a great amount of stress involved in keeping your techniques and glaze colors secret.  Let me start by introducing myself to those who do not know me.  My name is Kim Ries and I am owner and artist for Heartfelt Traditions pottery. I have been creating unique stoneware for over 10 years now and the industry has changed drastically in those 10 years.  I mostly wholesale my products but have started retailing them over the past year.  I would love to hear from anyone trying to join in this industry or anyone already a part of this industry and hear what you have to share about the topics I mentioned.  I will post again tomorrow.

Fairness in the World today

Posted by [email protected] on Comments comments (0)

I am going to tell you....where did fairness and free speech go?  Everyone preaches that those rights are stronger than ever but all I see is government control telling everyone what they think!  For anyone who has been mistreated by the system and took it like a true Christian....you know....forgive and forget...isn't that what we were taught?  Sure it was!  Forgiveness to those that treat you wrong.  I have lived by this my whole life and unfortunately along with this morality based format I have been severely walked on as well.  I am a very strong willed person who loves to speak her mind, but when it comes to a major battle, I usually just try to forgive!  I think that this way of living in general is probably a good philosophy, however, this political situation we have going on is just about to push me to a brink.  When someone steps up and voices their opinion and starts getting followers of other people with the same beliefs, all of a sudden, the government, people with power and money have decided to try and take him down.  I find this morally, politically and ethically corrupt.  Whether you agree with Donald Trump or disagree should be your choice, however, to attack him to the degree that is occuring is alarming!  I truly am wondering what is really going on with the government, which by the way, people....is US!  We are the government!  We pay the taxes, we are the ones that will be screwed if this should go wrong!  Now they are trying to remove delegates that he has won and give them to Cruz????  We need to join together and stand tall and fight back!  If there ever was a time, it is now!
